Abstract:
The rapid proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) has introduced significant challenges related to security, privacy, and trust, limiting its reliable deployment in real-world applications. This study proposes a comprehensive framework to analyze and address these challenges using blockchain technology. A hybrid Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) approach integrating Total Interpretive Structural Modeling (TISM), MICMAC analysis, and the Fuzzy VIKOR method is employed to identify key impediments and prioritize effective blockchain-based strategies. The results reveal that security from arbitrary attacks is the most critical impediment, exhibiting the highest driving power within the system. Furthermore, blockchain-based solutions such as cost efficiency, decentralization, and system resiliency are ranked as the most effective strategies. Sensitivity analysis confirms the robustness and stability of the proposed model. The findings demonstrate that blockchain technology can significantly enhance security, transparency, and trust in IoT environments. This study provides a structured decision-making framework and practical insights for researchers and industry practitioners. Future work may focus on integrating Artificial Intelligence with blockchain to further strengthen IoT security mechanisms.
