About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern the submission, editorial consideration, publication, access, and use of content and services provided by TEJAS Journal of Technologies and Humanitarian Science (TJTHS).

Authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and other users are expected to comply with the journal policies applicable to their respective activities.

Use of the journal website does not create a guarantee of manuscript acceptance, publication, indexing, citation, continuous website availability, or any particular academic or professional outcome.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting a manuscript to TJTHS, the corresponding author confirms that all listed authors:

• Have read and approved the submitted manuscript
• Have agreed to its submission to TJTHS
• Accept the applicable journal policies and submission requirements
• Authorize the corresponding author to communicate with the journal on their behalf
• Accept responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of their respective contributions

Reviewers, editors, readers, and website users are subject to the policies and conditions applicable to their use of the journal’s services and content.

2. Manuscript Submission

Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript:

• Is original
• Has not been formally published previously, except where prior dissemination has been clearly disclosed and is permitted
• Is not under simultaneous consideration by another journal
• Falls within the aims and scope of TJTHS
• Contains accurate authorship, affiliation, funding, and conflict-of-interest information
• Complies with applicable ethical, legal, copyright, and institutional requirements
• Includes all required declarations and supporting information
• Does not contain unlawful, defamatory, misleading, or unauthorized material

Submission of a manuscript does not guarantee peer review, acceptance, publication, or inclusion in a particular issue.

3. Author Consent and Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for:

• Confirming that all listed authors meet the journal’s authorship criteria
• Ensuring that no eligible author has been omitted
• Obtaining the approval of all authors before submission
• Providing accurate author names, affiliations, email addresses, and contribution details
• Communicating editorial decisions and reviewer comments to all authors
• Coordinating revisions and required declarations
• Informing the journal of relevant authorship, ethical, legal, or publication concerns
• Obtaining the agreement of all authors regarding the final manuscript

The corresponding author must not make substantial decisions on behalf of the other authors without their knowledge and consent.

4. Editorial Screening and Peer Review

Scholarly manuscripts submitted to TJTHS undergo an initial editorial assessment.

The initial assessment may consider:

• Relevance to the journal’s aims and scope
• Completeness of the submission
• Originality and academic relevance
• Basic methodological suitability
• Compliance with the Author Guidelines
• Authorship and ethical declarations
• Copyright and permission requirements
• Similarity with previously published material

A manuscript considered suitable for further evaluation is normally processed through the journal’s double-blind peer-review procedure and evaluated by at least two independent subject experts.

An additional reviewer may be invited where specialist assessment is required or reviewer recommendations differ substantially.

Corrections, retraction notices, policy updates, administrative announcements, and similar non-research content may be assessed editorially without external peer review.

5. Editorial Decisions

Reviewers provide recommendations to support editorial assessment but do not make the final publication decision.

The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or another editor formally authorized to make editorial decisions.

Possible decisions include:

• Accept
• Minor Revision
• Major Revision
• Reject

Editorial decisions may consider:

• Originality
• Relevance to the journal’s scope
• Methodological quality
• Accuracy and reliability
• Scholarly contribution
• Clarity of presentation
• Ethical and legal compliance
• Reviewer recommendations
• Author responses and revisions
• Compliance with journal policies

A request for revision does not guarantee acceptance.

The journal may decline a manuscript before external review when it is outside the journal’s scope, incomplete, unsuitable, or does not meet the basic submission requirements.

6. Research Integrity and Publication Conduct

Authors must not engage in:

• Plagiarism
• Fabrication or falsification of data
• Misleading manipulation of images or results
• Duplicate or redundant publication without appropriate disclosure
• Simultaneous submission
• Citation manipulation
• Undisclosed conflicts of interest
• Misrepresentation of authorship
• Unauthorized use of copyrighted material
• Peer-review manipulation
• Other conduct that compromises the reliability or integrity of the work

Where a concern is identified, the journal may request explanations, original records, supporting documentation, permission records, data, or other relevant information.

Editorial action will depend on the available evidence, seriousness of the concern, publication status of the manuscript, and the applicable journal policy.

A concern will not automatically be treated as established misconduct without appropriate assessment.

7. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain the copyright of their articles published by TJTHS.

The journal does not require authors to transfer ownership of their article copyright as a condition of publication.

Authors remain responsible for confirming that:

• They possess the rights necessary to submit and publish the manuscript
• The manuscript does not unlawfully infringe third-party rights
• Permission has been obtained for copyrighted third-party material
• Required copyright, source, and permission notices have been included

Copyright applying to published research articles is separate from copyright applying to the journal website, logo, branding, layout, policies, and administrative content.

8. Publication Rights Granted to the Journal

Upon acceptance, authors grant TJTHS a non-exclusive right to:

• Publish the article
• Reproduce and distribute the article
• Make the article available through the official journal website
• Identify TJTHS as the original place of publication
• Maintain the article within the journal’s publication records
• Supply the article and its bibliographic metadata to repositories, databases, indexing services, and scholarly discovery systems

Because these publication rights are non-exclusive, ownership of article copyright remains with the author or authors.

9. Open-Access Licence

Articles published by TJTHS are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0).

Under this licence, users may:

• Read and download the article
• Copy and redistribute the material
• Share the article through websites and repositories
• Adapt, remix, translate, transform, or build upon the material
• Use the material for commercial and non-commercial purposes

Users must:

• Give appropriate credit to the author or authors
• Identify the article and original publication source
• Include the DOI or official article link, where available
• Provide a link to the CC BY 4.0 licence
• Indicate whether changes were made

Attribution must not imply endorsement by the authors, journal, editors, Editorial Board, or publisher.

Users must not impose legal terms or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights granted under the licence.

10. Author Sharing and Repository Deposit

Authors may:

• Share and distribute their published articles
• Deposit the published version in an institutional repository
• Display the published version on a personal or institutional website
• Share the published version through an academic platform
• Reuse content in future scholarly work with appropriate citation

A shared or deposited article should retain:

• Author information
• Article title
• Journal title
• Volume and issue information
• DOI or official article link, where available
• Copyright and licence information
• Any applicable correction or retraction notice

Sharing must not misrepresent the article’s authorship, content, publication status, or official scholarly record.

11. Third-Party Material

The CC BY 4.0 licence applies only to material for which the relevant copyright holder is authorized to grant that licence.

Third-party photographs, illustrations, figures, tables, datasets, questionnaires, instruments, maps, trademarks, excerpts, or other protected content may be subject to separate terms.

Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions before submission.

Users must obtain permission from the relevant rights holder before reusing material excluded from the article’s open licence, unless the proposed use is otherwise permitted by applicable law.

12. Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for:

• Accuracy and originality of the submitted work
• Reliability of data, analysis, interpretations, and conclusions
• Accuracy of references and citations
• Compliance with authorship criteria
• Disclosure of funding and financial support
• Disclosure of relevant conflicts of interest
• Ethical approval and participant consent, where applicable
• Data confidentiality and privacy
• Copyright and third-party permissions
• Disclosure of substantive generative AI use where required
• Responding to editorial enquiries
• Correcting significant errors identified before or after publication

The journal’s editorial assessment or peer review does not transfer responsibility for article content away from the authors.

13. Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers must:

• Accept assignments only within their competence
• Provide an independent, objective, and constructive assessment
• Maintain manuscript and peer-review confidentiality
• Disclose relevant conflicts of interest
• Decline the review where impartial evaluation cannot be maintained
• Avoid using unpublished information for personal, academic, or commercial advantage
• Avoid contacting authors directly
• Inform the Editorial Office of significant delays
• Avoid hostile, discriminatory, or personally directed comments

Reviewers must not upload confidential manuscript material to an external generative AI system where confidentiality and data protection cannot be assured.

Reviewer recommendations are advisory and remain subject to final editorial assessment.

14. Editor and Editorial Staff Responsibilities

Editors and editorial staff must:

• Protect manuscript and peer-review confidentiality
• Disclose relevant conflicts of interest
• Transfer a manuscript to another qualified editor where independent handling cannot be maintained
• Base decisions on scholarly and editorial considerations
• Avoid influence from advertising, sponsorship, payments, institutional status, or unrelated personal characteristics
• Protect the accuracy and integrity of the publication record
• Apply the journal’s stated policies consistently

An editor or Editorial Board member submitting a manuscript must not control its review or final decision.

15. Conflicts of Interest and Funding

Authors must provide a Conflict of Interest statement for each submitted manuscript.

Where no relevant competing interest exists, authors should state that no financial or non-financial competing interests related to the work have been identified.

Funding information must be reported separately and should identify:

• Funding organisation
• Grant or award number, where applicable
• Recipient of the support
• Role of the funder, where relevant

Reviewers and editors must disclose interests that could influence or reasonably appear to influence their judgment.

Disclosure of a competing interest does not automatically result in rejection. The Editorial Office will assess how the interest should be managed.

16. Generative Artificial Intelligence

Generative AI systems must not be listed as authors or co-authors.

Human authors remain responsible for:

• Accuracy
• Originality
• Citations
• Data
• Analysis
• Images and figures
• Copyright
• Ethical compliance
• Disclosure of substantive AI use

Substantive AI use must be disclosed in accordance with the journal’s Generative Artificial Intelligence Policy.

AI must not be used to fabricate data, create false citations, conceal plagiarism, manipulate evidence deceptively, impersonate another person, or compromise confidential manuscript information.

17. Data and Supporting Information

Authors should provide an accurate Data Availability Statement describing the availability or restrictions applying to supporting research data.

The Editorial Office may request clarification or supporting information where questions arise concerning:

• Data accuracy
• Research methods
• Ethical approval
• Participant consent
• Copyright
• Authorship
• Originality
• Reliability of the reported findings

Authors are not required to disclose data where sharing would be unlawful, unethical, unauthorized, or inconsistent with valid privacy, confidentiality, contractual, or institutional restrictions.

18. Article Processing Charges

Any Article Processing Charge applicable to authors is governed by the journal’s Article Processing Charges Policy.

Reader access to published articles is separate from author-side publication charges. Readers are not required to pay subscription or article-access fees to read published articles.

Payment of a charge, where applicable, does not guarantee:

• Peer review
• Acceptance
• Publication
• Publication in a specific issue
• Indexing
• Citation
• Any particular academic outcome

Authors should review the applicable charge information before submission or before agreeing to publication.

19. Withdrawal Before Publication

Authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript before publication in accordance with the Article Withdrawal Policy.

A manuscript is not considered formally withdrawn until the Editorial Office issues written confirmation.

After formal publication, concerns are addressed under the Corrections and Retractions Policy rather than through the pre-publication withdrawal procedure.

20. Corrections, Retractions, and Publication Updates

Where an error or publication-integrity concern is identified after publication, the journal may consider:

• Correction
• Clarification
• Addendum
• Expression of concern
• Retraction
• Withdrawal notice
• Another appropriate editorial update

The action taken will depend on the nature of the concern and the available evidence.

Authors are expected to cooperate with reasonable post-publication enquiries and to report significant errors identified in their published work.

21. Access to Published Content

TJTHS provides open online access to its published scholarly articles.

Readers are not required to pay subscription or article-access charges to read openly available content.

Use and reuse of published articles remain subject to the applicable copyright notice, CC BY 4.0 licence, third-party rights, and applicable law.

Open access does not authorize users to:

• Falsely attribute content
• Misrepresent modified material as the unchanged original
• Remove correction or retraction notices
• Imply author or journal endorsement
• Reuse excluded third-party material without authorization

22. Website Availability

TJTHS makes reasonable efforts to maintain access to the journal website and its published content.

Continuous or error-free website operation cannot be guaranteed. Temporary interruption may occur because of:

• Scheduled maintenance
• Technical faults
• Hosting or server problems
• Software or security updates
• Network disruption
• Circumstances outside the journal’s reasonable control

Users should report broken links, missing files, or incorrect publication information to the Editorial Office.

23. Digital Archiving

Published content is currently made available through the official journal website and its online publication records.

TJTHS does not claim participation in a named independent long-term preservation service unless that service has been formally implemented and publicly identified.

DOI registration, website hosting, ordinary file storage, indexing, search-engine visibility, and repository listing must not by themselves be interpreted as independent long-term digital preservation.

The journal’s current arrangements and any future independent preservation service will be described through its Digital Archiving Policy.

24. External Links and Third-Party Services

The journal website may contain links to independently managed websites, repositories, databases, institutions, services, or other external resources.

The presence of an external link does not automatically constitute endorsement, approval, certification, sponsorship, or responsibility for the linked content.

TJTHS does not control the continued availability, accuracy, security, privacy practices, or terms of independently operated external websites.

Users should review the applicable policies and terms of third-party services before using them.

25. Website and Administrative Content

The open licence applied to published articles does not automatically apply to:

• The journal name and logo
• Website design and layout
• Branding elements
• Administrative pages
• Journal policies
• Original website graphics
• Other non-article content

Unless otherwise stated, such content may remain protected by applicable copyright and intellectual-property rights.

An “All Rights Reserved” notice, where displayed, must not be interpreted as restricting the CC BY 4.0 rights granted for published articles.

26. No Guarantee of Outcomes

TJTHS does not guarantee:

• Manuscript acceptance
• Completion of review within a fixed period
• Publication in a specific issue
• Continuous website availability
• Inclusion in a particular indexing service
• A particular number of views, downloads, or citations
• Academic promotion or institutional recognition
• Commercial, technical, professional, or research outcomes

Editorial decisions are based on the journal’s applicable assessment and peer-review procedures.

27. Complaints and Appeals

Authors, reviewers, readers, and other stakeholders may submit complaints or appeals in accordance with the journal’s Complaints and Appeals Policy.

A communication should clearly identify:

• The relevant manuscript or article
• The decision, process, or issue being challenged
• The factual or procedural basis of the concern
• Relevant supporting evidence

An appeal does not automatically suspend or reverse an editorial decision.

28. Privacy and Confidentiality

Personal information submitted to TJTHS may be used for manuscript administration, peer review, editorial communication, publication, website operation, and other legitimate journal processes.

Authors, reviewers, and users should consult the Privacy Policy for information concerning the collection and handling of personal data.

Users must not submit unnecessary sensitive or confidential information through general website forms or ordinary email.

29. Changes to These Terms

TJTHS may review and revise these Terms and Conditions when changes are required in journal operations, editorial procedures, publication policies, copyright arrangements, or legal responsibilities.

The current version will be made available on the official journal website.

Changes will apply prospectively from their stated implementation or publication date.

A revision to these Terms will not retrospectively revoke:

• A CC BY 4.0 licence already applied to a published article
• Copyright ownership already retained by an author
• Rights already validly granted under an existing publication agreement

Material changes affecting authors or readers should also be reflected in the relevant journal policy pages.
