Eligibility for Authorship

An individual should be listed as an author only when all of the following criteria are fulfilled:

• The individual has made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the research, acquisition of data, analysis or interpretation of findings, development of methodology, software, or another significant scholarly component of the work.
• The individual has participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
• The individual has reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.
• The individual agrees to be accountable for their contribution and to cooperate in resolving questions concerning the accuracy, integrity, or reliability of the work.

Contributions Not Sufficient for Authorship

The following contributions alone do not qualify an individual for authorship:

• General supervision
• Funding acquisition without substantial scholarly contribution
• Administrative assistance
• Routine technical support
• Data entry
• Language editing
• Proofreading
• Provision of equipment or facilities
• Financial or logistical support

Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet all authorship criteria may be recognized in the Acknowledgements section, subject to their permission.

Inappropriate Authorship Practices

TJTHS does not accept:

• Gift authorship
• Guest authorship
• Honorary authorship
• Purchased authorship
• Coercive authorship
• Ghost authorship
• Omission of an eligible author
• Inclusion of a person without their knowledge or approval
• Misrepresentation of author contributions

Gift, guest, or honorary authorship occurs when an individual is listed as an author despite not satisfying the authorship criteria. Ghost authorship occurs when an individual who made a qualifying contribution is omitted from the author list.

Author Approval and Accountability

All listed authors must review and approve the manuscript before submission and must agree to the order in which author names appear.

Each author is responsible for the integrity of their own contribution and should be able to identify which co-author is responsible for the other parts of the work.

All authors are expected to cooperate with reasonable editorial enquiries concerning the accuracy, originality, ethical compliance, or integrity of the manuscript.

Corresponding Author Confirmation

The corresponding author must confirm that:

• All listed authors satisfy the journal’s authorship criteria
• No eligible author has been omitted
• No ineligible individual has been included
• All authors have approved the submitted manuscript
• All authors have agreed to the authorship order
• All author names and affiliations are accurate
• All authors have been informed of editorial decisions and revisions

Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

Generative artificial intelligence tools, language models, chatbots, software applications, and automated systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

Artificial intelligence systems cannot:

• Approve the submitted manuscript
• Accept responsibility for the content
• Disclose competing interests
• Hold copyright
• Respond to research-integrity concerns
• Assume accountability for errors or misconduct

Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, ethical compliance, and integrity of all manuscript content, including content prepared with the assistance of automated tools.
